Lord Of The Orphans

2hr 30min  |  Bengali, English  |  Drama

Presented by filmmaker and friend
VISHAL BHARDWAJ who stood by me through my times of turmoil.

Lord of the Orphans is the story of a family (The Palit Family) reeling under a hundred year old curse. It is a unique biopic, a sort of auto-biopic, where filmmaker Ranjan Palit turns the lens on himself and his family.

Synopsis

This film is presented by filmmaker and friend Vishal Bhardwaj who stood by me through my times of turmoil. The film would not have been possible without him.

"A few years ago, I had a breakdown which lasted for three long years. During that time, I slowly became lucid about my past 50 years, where I had been orphaned many a times by death, by the end of romance, and i felt the need to make a film, to heal myself. So, LORD OF THE ORPHANS is a unique biopic, where i turn the lens on my family, a certain dark history of my ancestors, on my journey through life, love and cinema, mainly the documentary. Towards the end of the film i go to ask my first wife Rumi, to ask her to play herself in the film, and tragedy overtakes us, while filming...the lines between fiction and non-fiction, of performance and actuality get completely blurred.."
