Happy is the missing epilogue to the feature film ‘Ajji’. To show the satisfied viewer that there are no ‘Happy’ endings to such stories.
Synopsis
When you walk in the footsteps of violence, you also learn deceit, because deep down you know that violence is incapable of surviving on its own, it is a chain. And to admit to signing up to that chain is to acknowledge that you are indeed exercising violence. So you hide it, hoping the shadow cast by the one you imbibed the violence from is so all enveloping for you that you can hide in it forever. Until your subordinator falls, and that shadow disappears, and you are revealed.
‘Happy’ is the indicator that the cycle of violence continues. It is merely a reminder that if you felt satisfied at the end of ‘Ajji’ it was a false sentiment. The reality is unfortunately a hopeless one. ‘Happy’ is not a short film as much as it is a missing page from ‘Ajji’.
This is a brand new version, borne of the conflicted response this film has had over the last year. It has been re-cut and arrives with a host of bonus material alongside, including a never-seen before unreleased trailer of #Ajji, that sets the context for 'Happy'. Do not watch this little short in isolation of its 'grandmother' feature! :)
