Why this film?

Jokhini is an attempt to amalgamate the traditional folklore of the Assamese Jokhini, with another legend of one the North-Eastern state, Meghalaya and introduce a mystically alluring tale that would pave the way onto breaking the shackles of patriarchy and preserve our cultural diversity and protect the cultures of the indigenous people and marginalised social groups and especially women.

We intend to take the film to audiences beyond cultural dimensions to share our vision and storytelling and to make audiences understand how fantasy folklores are not just about the horror and anxiety, adrenaline rush and the chills down the spine, it is beyond that..

Journey so far

The journey of Jokhini has started with Ghorapak, where the director started to experience myths and legends of Assamese folklore and this film is a continuation to thrive on greater mysticism and the imaginary.

🚩 Completed pre-production stage.

🚩Production in process.

Why fund us?

We want to bring the stories of the folklore and folk tales of northeast India to your screen. The new generation, the whole of India should know about our culture and how rich it is. We are showing two different folklore from Assam and Meghalaya knitted by a thrilling story in JOKHINI. The film will be shot in two locations and the use of VFX & music will be crucial. The budget we are asking for is very tight and on-point. The message the film delivers will be worth the hard work.

Why crowdfund us?

This film is so close to our hearts and when we started working on it, we had decided to keep it real and raw and tell the stories that should be told.We want this film to be for the people just like Ghorapak was. So we have decided to go for crowdfunding and build a community around the film in that process.

We will be sharing regular updates with the backers through the production, post-production and festival run.

How is the money going to be used?
